Every year the Ocean Conservancy Group dedicates one day to clean up the trash on our coastlines. They realize that the amount of plastic trash in our oceans outnumbers the marine life by a ratio of 6 to 1. An American on average throws away 185 pounds of trash and just with the millions living in NYC we cannot do enough in one day. This is a great event that raises awareness of how important our recycling habits can be but we must find other innovative ways to stop the pollution of our oceans.
